La obra

This tale was born from the desire to tell the story of the Dog: a fameless hero who lives in the deep countryside. He is beaten, caressed, humiliated, loved and brutally subjected. He will also be the excuse for narrating the life of other beings around him, thus raising questions about and reasons for our own existence.

This story was born from the desire to speak about the love that sprouts from sweat and blood, from unpunished and ruthless violence, from tin roofs, “mate”, dagger and straw bale. It is our story, born from our guts; however putting it on stage implies an outright decision: it is not for us to restrict the plurality of meanings that may come out of it, but to project it as a tearing question on the limits of dignity, faithfulness and domination.

In the painfully endless horizon of the countryside, where hard-skinned, gaunt and grim characters ready to eviscerate a pig without hesitation live,  where no one can hear a cry for help the most unpunished crimes will be committed. We believe that recreating with a few elements that particular atmosphere inside the spectators mind will set the ground to disentangle the darkness within the plot and its uncommon thickness full of violence and painful tenderness.

A barn. An old tavern. A dog pit.

Death. Love. Glory. Fidelity.

Once upon a time there was a dog…
